Futile Discussions

Published by admin on July 15th, 2008 | Tagged Homaira Rahman, Other Stuff

Some of the blog entries placed on this section of AfghanBuzz.com regarding Homaira Rahman and Ehsan Amin, served not only as a memorial but as an awakening call for our youth to make calculated decisions. This blog served as a reminder for our youth that any decision they make, might influence not only their lives but also that of their loved ones. Having Ehsan Amin’s profile on this site, was not to point a finger nor was it to sympathise with him. A murder took place. Ehsan Amin was arrested for it. And we know that not only friends and family of Ehsan amin are crying in pain but also that of the victim.

How the victim or culprit chose to lead his/her life is not something we could scrutinize. We all lead a life, filled with mis judgements. Who are we to tell if someone’s chosen path is worse or better than ours.

A very tragic event took place. Lets all say our prayers. End of discussion. Lets hope that no one in our family or friend circle go through this harrowing experience.

Next thing we know, the discussion changes into Ms. Tabasum, Samira Atash and her father. We are quite befuddled and bemused as to how it was thwarted into discussing some one else’s private life.Perhaps if some of us have a lot of anger towards them, then may be it is best to talk to them in person and settle their differences.

The blog administrators can simply censor the entries. Delete the ones we think are inappropriate and leave those which we deem appropriate. But then it defeats the whole premise of OPEN DISCUSSION. Defeats the purpose of Open/Public Forum.  We have entries criticizing Dr. Atash for being involved with certain acts of misdemeanor while working at Ariana Airlines. We also have entries, supporting Dr. Atash and brandishing negative comments as a government orchestrated propaganda. Which one is true. We don’t know. Dr. Atash is not our Uncle nor is the Afghan Government or the afghan populace at large. Hence the concept of Freedom of speech and why the blogs were not censored.

Then there are some who believe that Afghanbuzz is enjoying a rise in traffic for having this discussion open. Well the blog has been in place for a while and we post stories that we find interesting. Daily AfghanBuzz recieves close to 50,000 hits and the blog gets only 3000.  It is a blog/ its a forum/ it is an avenue to talk and discuss … And 3000 hits/day is not even something we are eyeing to capitalize on.

So we are placing the following poll. Let us know if you want ALL The comments removed? We are not going to delete some or keep some… if you chose them all deleted, then we can remove it. Otherwise we can keep it. It is your call. Voice your Opinion…

IM SORRY WHY WOULD YOU ASK FOR PEOPLES OPINIONS TO REMOVE A BLOG LIKE THIS ? YOU GUYS ARE ALLOWING THESE PEOPLE TALK ABOUT A DECEASED GIRL? AND FOR HER FAMILY TO SEE PUT DOWN LIKE THIS ? AT A TIME LIKE THIS??? SORRY BUT THIS IS NOT RIGHT

  2. Thankyou Says:

Please remove ALL of the comments. There is no need to discuss a deceased girl whether in a good way or bad. Rather go pray for her and her family and friends.

Thanks Afghanbuzz for finally taking action on this issue.

  3. Ashamed! Says:

Please remove all comments and pictures…Why would you keep all these negative comments about girls who have nothing to do with Homaira jaan and her tragic death. I’m very disappointed with this site and allowing all this negative talk to go on for as long as it did. Shame on you!!!! I’m truly disgusted with afghanbuzz.

  4. jamal Says:

Ashamed : You are entitled to your opinion but I think it is an open Forum and everyone has the right to know about afghan sluts and how they are ruining our Afghan reputation. Afghanbuzz moderators if you start censorship then there will be no difference between you guys and a Nazi ruler.

  5. mase Says:

i think only tabasom and her ugly friends want it closed but rest of our musilman afghan people want it running because it speak about why and how such acts of debauchery can lead to such crimes. afghan teenagers and young people should read and learn.

  6. naz Says:

Why are they making a fuss about removal of posts from your website but on FairFax county blog, they are not doing anything. Samira, Tabasom and the rest of the whore clan are also bombarded at the following link and I just dont see the samira atash PR to making any comments there?

    Hi,

I think that you should make your own decision. I think its weak and a copout to take a poll. You should do what you “feel is right”…..I think the blog has taken its own hit, and has gone to a “trash talking place”….but if not done here, it will be done somewhere else (i.e. fairfax underground).

I dont think you will get the answers you seek from posting this….some people will state leave the blog up (”freedom of speech”), others will state to tear it down (”freedom of respecting Homaira’s family)….

From a legal perspective….I am surprised Ms. Atash, and Ms. Lutfi has not taken “legal actions” with respect to taking down the parts of the blog that personally defame them……. so you may end up with “some potential issues there”….arguably freedom of speech is a defense, but once you are “aware” of the defamation….and still are doing nothing about it….this could constitute negligence on your part….

so I dunno, to cover yourself and your website, I would get rid of some of those comments….

    Hope that helped!

    —————————

Defamation suit can only be exercised if the website (in this case AfghanBuzz.com) was actively pursing/seeking and promoting defamtion against ms. Atash and Ms. Lutfi. But we are well aware of the fact that AfghanBuzz.com has featured Ms. Atash, Her art work and her perseverance to serve Afghan society in large, in the main pages of AfghanBuzz.com.If random individuals come in and exercise their right to freedom of speech on a multi-user blog, and either speaking for/or against ms. atash or ms. lutfi, AfghanBuzz.com is not responsible for the content. It is a well stated fact outlined in their Privacy and TOC section. Blogs/comments have been continually erased/deleted/IP’s blocked but the avalanche of posts have not abled the AfghanBuzz.com to keep up…

The private life of Ms. Atash and Ms. Lutfi is absolutely not of anyone’s business and Members of AfghanBuzz.com have a LOT of respect and love for both. Ms. Atash is a well known designer and her achievements are always celebrated on AfghanBuzz.com pages ! A few ignorants who come here and speak low of her, does not mean anything… anyone can say anything about anyone. What matters is , does anyone pay attention to those comments… well atleast not members of afghanbuzz.com team :-)

  12. Make an Executive Decision! Says:

Wow, ME. Thanks for that. That was very informative.

Hope that was not sarcasm :p

  14. Make an Executive Decision! Says:

Actually, it wasnt. I was being serious. Are you the Admin of the site?

  15. ME Says:

Make an Executive Decision:: Nope but a Patron of the Buzz site… whats up with you and the mushroom council ?

  16. Make an Executive Decision! Says:

Ummm….who is the mushroom council? did I miss something here? lol….I was actually going to ask, if you were the admin, what happened to the “Ehsan Amin Blog” ? It looked like someone had written about it……if you know them, can you ask them about it?

Thanks, your great! (and YES I mean that) lol

  17. afghan Says:

take it down can’t believe you are even asking…it should be common sense. This has gotten way out of hand.

  18. Samira A Says:

    Hello,

I want to personally address the blogs about me and my father that was written here on Afghan Buzz. I will personally issue this statement on behalf of me (and my family) to the bloggers here to put this issue at rest.

At first, I was honored to be featured on AfghanBuzz.com because I thought it was a respectable on-line publication that features positive work of Afghans worldwide. I am always honored when Afghan media chooses to feature my work because if I have represented my people or culture in a positive way, then it satisfies me. I am so grateful to so many of you, customers and fans of my designs, who e-mail me almost daily with your positive words and encouragement.

With that being said, I know not everyone will like what I do and will have their opinions about me. With the Internet, people can spew hatred or create rumors/lies about someone because it’s so easy to do it behind a fake name. I have thick skin, and don’t mind if people don’t like my designs, my personality, or what I stand for. I know people will always have opinions about you when they don’t know you personally. That is part of life. However, I am surprised a site features me on their home page but would let defamatory character attacks about me, that had nothing to do with the topic of discussion (Homaira Rahman and Ehsan Amin), post for so long, even after my PR assistant posted a response to it, and I personally requested Afghan Buzz to pull it from the site. Until now, I have never personally posted a blog on AfghanBuzz, so I’m not sure how my father and I became a topic of discussion during a time when friends and family of Homaira were trying to grieve? The person/s who posted the lies faked an entry by me (created a post by a “Samira”) just for the purpose of responding in the disgusting manner that they did. They used a tragedy in the Afghan community as part of a smear campaign, and it’s sad that our community will try to tear each other up like this.

As for me, I will not justify or respond to the disgusting lies and accusations made against my character because at the end of the day, I am confident that those who truly love and care about me know me and will defend me with honor. The blog was obviously written by pathetic scum with a personal vendetta against me, or my father. I wonder to those of you who go on blogs and call women “whores”, do you have respect for women, or would you tolerate that being said about your sister, cousin, mother, or wife? Why don’t you have the courage to post your real name if you are brave enough to make these sweeping judgments against people you don’t know? If Afghans can’t respect each other first, then how can we expect the rest of the world to?

Furthermore, the rumors that have persisted about my father are simply not true. He tried to reform Ariana Airlines into a world class carrier by calling for an end to narcotics smuggling and corruption when he was President a few years ago, and in return, mafia-like factions in the Afghan gov. created false stories in the media that he embezzled millions of dollars to distract people from what was really going on behind the curtains. To this day, not one piece of credible evidence, that hasn’t been doctored, has been produced to find him guilty of any crime. First they claim he “stole” $8 million, then $10m, then $20m, then $80…now what is it…$100m? If you are going to frame someone, at least get your story straight. Ironic that just recently, Karzai’s brothers took over Ariana…. If people took time to put the pieces of the puzzle together instead of believing the media or rumor-ville, they would find the truth. The truth is here: http://www.drnadiratash.com

A few months ago, we were warned that members of the Afghan government were going to use fake Internet identities to attack my family as part of a political smear campaign. With elections are coming up, they are going to great lengths to defame anyone who they see as a threat, has a popular following among Afghans, has criticized the Karzai government, etc. The fact that this blog attack appeared out of nowhere, and on a forum about a brutal murder no less, makes it clear that the warning was true and it is a calculated attack. Afghans everywhere should know what kind of tactics members in Afghan government will go to defame others to further their own interests.

The moderator has released this statement, “We have entries criticizing Dr. Hence the concept of Freedom of speech and why the blogs were not censored.”.

So, let me get this straight, you post my pictures and story on your home page as a “respected fashion designer”, and claim that you “celebrate my work”. I really appreciate this and want to believe this, but if you respected me, why would you not remove a blog that degrades me, and my father, through lies and degrading comments which have nothing to do with the topic at hand? He is my father, and I love and respect him, and if these blogs and attacks continue, I kindly request that you remove me from your site entirely as I will not be used as a tool for promotion if there is no respect for me or my family in return. I think you would feel the same way if the roles were reversed. I thought the purpose of this site was to promote positive dialogue and topics, not become an Afghan tabloid. You ask, “Does anyone pay attention to these comments”. Yes, obviously, if so many people have talked about it.

These accusations will no longer be ignored by my family as reputation is important and a right to each individual. Further attacks will be investigated going forward here, and on any other sites. Anyone else who makes these types of defamatory accusations against the Atash family will have to face legal consequences.

We have been advised by our legal advisors that “blogs can be ordered by court orders to remove defamatory information. In those cases, once the publication takes place, and the individual or company who has control of the content of the blog is notified, they have a duty to remove the information. A site such as Afghan Buzz has an individual or organization who serves as the Moderator. The Moderator does have control or influence over the content that is published. A Moderator can thus be compared more with an Editor. When a message is posted, the Moderator has an opportunity to allow or not allow it to be posted or to issue warnings and/or ban members who engage in conduct that violates the policies or applicable laws. Even if a person is in the public sphere, they still have a right to their reputation and not to be defamed. Courts in the U.S. have held against individuals who have posted false information online against even celebrities who are high profile. Ignorance of the law is also not a defense.”

Bloggers, please understand where we are coming from and put yourself in someone else’s shoes. Criticize my work/personality/looks, etc. and that is freedom of speech, which I respect. But post lies about my character, call me disgusting names, and wage accusations against me and my family, and you have crossed the line personally and legally.

Thank you for all who have taken the time to read this and hopefully, this answers all the “buzz” and you now know the truth.

    Samira

  19. kabootar Says:

Samira jan, I didn’t think that you are the only afghan named Samira on this planet earth. A google search of images will reveal millions of hits. If someone comes here and writes an entry under the name SAMIRA it does not mean its you. Perhaps you should think that by making it all a big deal in the first place, give the opportunity for a few sinisterous individuals to hijack humaira’s story and turn it towards you. I am a frequent visitor to this page and I remember it all started when some random person came here..made a comment..and wrote their name as SAMIRA. Why should it be you? .. It could have been any Samira. But yourself and your friends who were coming here, immediately felt that someone is trying to hijack your ‘name’…and hence started all the bashing and name calling. It served as a perfect petri dish for those who have no business in your life or business… and start their accusations.

So next time when you see a name, a sign, a symbol, a picture that says SAMIRA under it…please do not take it personal..it could be just any samira ~_*. And if you make a fuss about it, people would immediately pay attention and make use of it to bring in stories about your life or your father’s life .. which is really no one’s business. But i guess some just wants to be annoying fucks …so let them be and don’t jump to the conclusion that the general population of afghanistan has anything against u or your family.

Correct me if I am wrong… every page that AfghanBuzz has made..speaks volumes about you. They have done a great job speaking highly of your life, your career … but it was you and your lackeys who took it all personal with the entry titled “Samira” and turned a tiny snow woof….into a giant ball of wad.

lets see whats gonna happen to this entry you have made.. good luck.

  20. Joe Says:

lol..reminds me of the saying “Dooz Sari Khood Shakhhh Darad”

  21. Tammana Says:

GET A LIFE SAMIRA. YOU DID NOT HAVE MUCH A REPUBTATION BEFORE SO DONT WORRY TOO MUCH ABOUT IT GETTING TARNISHED.

NO ONE CARED ABOUT YOU BEFORE NOR ANYONE CARES NOW. NOTHING IS CHANGED BECAUSE EVERYONE KNOWS YOUR STORY AND ALL YOUR LIFES FUCKUPS.

  22. kachaloo Says:

    LOL @ JOE . I AGREE.

Sam if your actions do not make you be an afghan why do you push so much to be one? perhaps because of that you got publicity and now make money off that? think deep what is in you that would make you call yourself afghan. what do u do that is afghan? so dont bother yourself with proving anything but for cnn and new york times i guess you can do it lol

  23. Learn from Example Says:

Allah asks us to “turn our face away when we see someone’s fault…”. This means we should not judge it. This does not mean that we should ignore it and not learn from it. Open forum is important and it’s something Afghans are missing. You can not hide the truth by ignoring. If we all had a reality check in Afghanistan, we would not be living in a foreign country. Keep the open forum and teach other girls/boys that we are Muslims first and then Afghans. This is what happens when muslims try to copy other cultures.

  24. Learn from Example Says:

Samira, I have lived in US all my life and part of NOVA community. I don’t know who you are, who’s your family or your Dad or what you do. I really don’t care and I could care less about it.

As far as political conspiracy, Afghanistan have been in the hands of loosers the whole time. The only people I know who cared about Afghanistan during my life span were President Najeebulla and now Karzai. Everyone else during the time of war just took advantage of Afghanistan.

If I were you, I would just sit tight and do not exploit this further if you care so much about yourself and your family reputation. People like me who doesn’t even know you will eventually know you and I don’t think it will be good for you in long term. I will look for you in Afghan community going forward. Take care.

  25. Dictatorship Says:

WOW. Admin - How could you even ask this question? We live in a free country. This freaking family can not dictate Afghans in America.

The selfish families like hers destroyed Afghanistan and now they want to dictate you even in this free country. This is against freedom of speech. Who is she or who they are? Are they bigger than the President of America. The President in this country can be criticized for all their actions. This family needs to wake up and learn that they are no body in this free nation.

  26. Concerned Afghan Says:

Wow, this site and everything about it is really sad. I just found this site and thought that it would be a good forum to promote Afghan-American participation in the upcoming election but NEVERMIND! You guys seem like a bunch of mindless losers worried about retarded gossip. I’m so embarrassed to be on here. First and Last…

  27. Afghangirl Says:

#26…. I didn’t know gossip was only part of Afghan community. Use your brain and open your eyes…Gossip exists in all communities. I actually feel sorry for your mindless brain for calling yourself Afghan first and then critiquing natural human behavior as mindless while singling Afghans alone… Get the F**k out of here… You don’t belong with Afghans anyway.
