Jim Sciutto Book Review: “Against Us: The New Face of American Enemies in Muslim World by Jim Sciutto (Amazon Books Sale)

Being born in a Muslim world and raised in Afghanistan, India and now America, I have heard, seen and witnessed the view points of Muslim world towards America and that of American’s to the Muslim world. What makes me sad is that there is a huge vaccum of unknown that lies between the two sides. Muslims consider Americans (and I MEAN ALL AMERICANS) as classless capitalists where women would have sex with anyone they meet on the street, where spousal relationships are not respected, where EVERYONE thinks that its okay to have gay/lesbian union, where Islam is disrespected by ALL … but to a lot of us living here in the west, we know that its not true. Well, we came to that realization when we moved here.

Similarly a lot of those living here in the west, believes that ISLAM is against them. ISLAM is some form of terrorist organization. Where every muslim would butcher their wife if she steps out. Americans think that those living in Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq or any other muslim nation, are savages, barbarians, wild goons, rapists, murderers and goes the list. But that is what they think based on what they have seen on their television sets. Just like what muslims get to see and hear on their media screens.

Muslim nations have witnessed American aggression and does not like American association with Israeli Jewish state. Muslim nations do not like the form of Bullying Americans are pursuing as their tactic against nations that cannot defend themselves. Muslim nations does not like American invasion of countries NOT for the purpose of liberating them..but for the purpose of capitalizing on their natural resources. Basically Muslim world does not like the big bully.

Similarly America or western worlds have witnessed aggression instigated by a few islamic groups in their own soil. Other than Iran, no other head of Islamic state have ever had the audacity to express frustration or anger towards America. But there are radical groups that cannot tolerate the usual American ass raping of the nations that cannot defend themselves. They have injured, hurt, maimed innocent American civilians in the process. Innocent Americans with families, with no desire to mingle with politics or with no desire to hurt or injure or interfere with anyone specially their religious believes.

So amidst this whole confusion of each other’s principles, or generalizing the rogue American foreign policy to the innocent Americans who just like most of the muslim families, work work work… make enough to raise a family…instill moral principles of honesty and integrity in their kids….etc etc… other political forces play their game by pushing the two polarized sides closer..so they can eat each other out.

Now this new book : “Against Us: The New Face of American Enemies in Muslim World by Jim Sciutto (Amazon Books Sale)” has tried to make it easier for Americans understand why the muslim world ‘hates’ them. This book is an important ‘SELF AID’ book for those who want to understand why some radical islamic groups chose to blow themselves up…and trust me it is not for fun or money .. its for a distorted ideology. But where does that distortion comes from. Could it come from America itself ???

Well, for those interested in knowing more about the two sides of the equation, I think they should seriously read Jim Sciutto’s book to better understand world issues.

Afghan Music - Fardeen Haqmal and Plenty of Gifts for Eid..lol

Today after a long time, I decided to check my mailbox and it was filled with junk letters, really cool music CDs, DVDs and other materials by Afghan artists requesting me to place them on Afghan Music section of our site. Also, there was a cheque for $500 sent to us by an Afghan entrepreneur who wishes to remain anonymous and yet another cheque for $200 by a fan who has liked our efforts and wanted to pay for our hosting services. WELL THANK YOU ! I think this is a great gift for Eidi .. lol. EID SHUMA HAM MOBARAK !

Federal Reserve Bank of America - $700 BILLION bailout of Rich or Buy out of Poor?

Today the lower house of congress vetoed the $700 billion bail out plan, proposed by a bunch of politicans whose pockets are governed by a corrupt international bankers.

The rejection came to me as a sign of relief - that there are still politicians in US, who truely love their country and cannot just give the money to the rich bastards who have drained the life and blood of american working middle class.

A lot of people believe that this $700 billion ”charity” to banks, can save American economy and prevent a devastating depression of early 1900’s from reoccuring. It is just amazing how bankers chose a perfect opportunity to create a mayham amongst people, talking of Depression, Catching the congress off guard when its busy trying to deal with the upcoming elections, when the questions of war are on the edge, and when their final puppet will be leaving the office - BUSH…. this is a perfect opportunity to get the $700 billion dollars.

American people have been over and over again bombard by media, the chaos around them, the terrible times ahead, terroism, economic downfall… one after other… I am just surprised that we are still a bit sane.

In 1900’s Mayor Amschel Rothschild of Rothschild Banking Dynasty said :“Give me control of the Nations Money supply, and I care not who makes its laws.”

In an exclusively secret meeting between a group of international bankers and a few top level members of congress at lekyll Island (and this was hosted by Rothschild Bank (A Rockefeller Company)) … during early 1900’s… the US congress signed the approval of existence of a FEDERAL RESERVE BANK. A private entity, which the government would have a chequing account with. A private entity, whose money dealings cannot be monitored. A private entity which can fart out and print money. A private entity that would exist outside the US jurisdiction.

Now, everytime the US borrows money from Federal reserve bank or the state treasurey (which has a chequing account with the Federal Reserve Bank) borrows money, either it be for war in Iraq or Afghanistan or this $700 Billion bailout… the FEDS charge the government INTEREST.

Now, when you see our hardworking Americans, working day and night, paying taxes and trying to make ends meet and not being able to save a little extra to pay for their children’s education…. you should think of the brutal AMERICAN INCORPORATION… A GOVERNMENT SYSTEM which is incorporated by a few rich individuals… because EVERY TAX DOLLAR THAT YOU RETURN…GOES TOWARDS INTEREST CHARGES on the money Government loaned from the FEDERAL RESERVE BANK OF AMERICA (Federal my ass - FEDEX is federal too, but does not mean its FEDERAL FEDERAL…its a privately owned company !)….

Your partriotism is worth admiration..for the land known as AMERICA but lets not be patriot for the bastards who have made our great nation not be able to care for the poor who bleed or die outside hospitals because they cannot afford healthcare.

These money monguls, the corrupt Nazi sympathizing family of George Bush, starting with Prescott Bush all the way down to the current George Bush need to be stopped and it can only be done by our own men and women. We need not fight a war on terrorism in forigen lands..but in our own land…against these evil dictators who have been running the show for the last 8 years.

Malalai Kakar Video - Top Afghan Police Woman

Lt-Col Malalai Kakar shot dead in Afghanistan

Malalai Kakar

Malalai Kakar, Afghanistan’s top female military officer, was shot dead earlier today in Kandahar. Malalai Kakar hails from a family of army generals and officers and her assassination is a huge blow to the Karzai Government as well as allied forces currently active in Afghanistan.

Soon after the assassination, Taliban officials released a news briefing that they have indeed killed Malalai Kakar and take full responsiblity for her assassination.

Along with Ms. Kakar, her son was also travelling in the convey which came under attack. He is currently in critical condition in Kandahar hospital.

Haji Bashir Noorzai’s $50 Million US

Early in 2005, Haji Bashir Noorzai was told by American covert operators in Afghanistan, that he should travel to US as a ‘vacation’ and strengthen his ties with the US government. Little did he know that it was a set up.

Haji Bashir Noorzai, head of a the Noorzai tribal family, was a good friend, and a loyalist to the Taliban leader Mullah Omar. Most of the expenses needed for the purchase of arms and ammunitions by the Taliban were courtesy of Haji Noorzai. After the 2001 US invasion of Afghanistan, Taliban forces dispered within the porous countryside, but Haji Bashir Noorzai, stayed behind and stood firm on his ground. He soon made ‘friends’ within the US intelligence network while still providing arms and ammunitions to Taliban insurgents.

It is estimated that Haji Bashir Noorzai’s wealth surpasses $50 million US and most of it comes from narcotics. In Afghanistan as well as Pakistan, he has set up high throughput facilities which produces high grade Heroine for shipment across the globe, specifically US and Europe.

So, Haji Bashir took a plane from Islamabad to New York, via Dubai. He travelled first class and stayed at New York manhattan’s finest hotels. Just a few miles from ground zero, in his luxurious hotel room, he was visited by various US officers. Althoug he expected a vacation, he was constantly interrogated in his hotel room about Mullah Omar, Osama bin laden, Taliban insurgency in Afghanistan and so goes the list. Video surveillance, secret service agents, radio communication sniffers moinitored every little move or phone call of Haji Bashir.

Finally when he decided to leave US - he was arrested in his hotel room on the charges of exporting heroine to US.

3 years later and he is still in a small jail house in New York. He has made several high profile interviews with TIMES, Newyork Times and CNN and has constantly maintained his stance that US has made the biggest mistake by arresting him. He believes that his tribe, would do anything possible to harm US personnel in Afghanistan, to avenge Haji Bashir’s maltreatment in US (and US Custody).

Homaira Rahman’s Family Statement

Editor’s Note: Following is a message from the family of Homaira Rahman in response to the article which appeared in Washington City Paper. We thank them for their time to pen down their thoughts and clarify certain points raised in the article.

In the early morning hours of July 4, 2008, a young woman fell victim to the hands of true evil. This beautiful woman, Homaira Rahman, had her life tragically cut short by her murderer, Ehsan Amin. This is a story that offers insight into the complexities of relationships, the challenges facing immigrant communities here in the U.S., and the horrors of violence. It is the story that should have been composed by the author of “Death by 91 Cuts,” in the Washington City Paper. Instead, it became an over generalized account of this very real tragedy and sensationalized by misinterpretations, inaccuracies, and stereotypes.

Up until her death, Homaira’s experiences were not particularly newsworthy. She was born in Virginia to Afghan Immigrants escaping the ravages of a war that consumed their country. She was an American, an Afghan, an Afghan-American. Like her generation, she was part of a hybrid culture – one that absorbed all aspects of both societies. She had to contend with these challenges, as thousands like her do on a daily basis. How does one assimilate when the need to preserve one’s sense of identity is so critical? It is a question that countless immigrants ask themselves each day. Culture, language, and belief systems all have a role in this preservation. While certain practices are innate and natural in one’s homeland, they may not necessarily adapt to the new environment. These are real issues. Ms. Valdez’s article suggests, “The real scandal behind the murder of Homaira Rahman: She had been dating.” With this wonderfully simple and ignorant statement, she glosses over a culture that perhaps uses differing (in this case from American/Western) standards for relationships. Perhaps, the belief in respect for family and a collective sense of responsibility to one’s community outweigh the ardent expression of individualism so prevalent in the western world. Perhaps this explains the challenges in attracting young professionals here to public service and benevolence work, etc. In the end, the message lost in Valdez’s simplistic and supposed think-piece, is the very real challenges many immigrants face.

Homaira was in a relationship and, yes, her family was aware, contrary to Valdez’s statement regarding our ignorance. A relationship that was consistent with her faith as a Muslim. Her belief system and family offering her guidance on such matters and both of which support her ability to choose (yes choose - an often overlooked dictum that is contrary to the vague and often incorrect interpretations of Islam that dominate so much commentary) of her own accord to choose a life partner. Were we aware of the magnitude and nature of the abuse and violence? No, we were not. But are we any different than the scores of white, black, yellow, brown women who suffer similar plights – who would rather endure the physical and emotional violence than expose these realities to their friends and family? Is this really an “Afghan” scandal? Was her inability to express her reality the nature of a “backward” culture that oppresses their women? Or was she tragically no more unique than so many other women here in the U.S., or other parts of the world that suffer abuse. Ms. Valdez could have used Homaira’s story as a study to reinforce a real problem that exists. Despite all of our achievements as individuals, as a country, and as a global power there is still much to do. Can we say we have eliminated racism? Have we broken the cycle of domestic violence for women; is it no longer an issue here domestically? Are women and other minorities still suffering from the “glass ceiling” syndrome?

No, Ms. Valdez did not spend time on these issues. She carefully arranged her interpretations of what others said, and oversimplified very complex problems. Homaira was the victim of abuse; she was murdered by a man who has no sense of moral sensibility. Her parents and her family, like many other surviving relatives, live with the inevitable sense of guilt. What could we have done to prevent this? It is a question no one is prepared to answer because it cannot be answered. Homaira was an individual and despite an overwhelming support network, she was still — and unfortunately — helpless. The real “scandal” here is that she was NOT unique. Walk into any domestic abuse shelter, and listen to the stories. Homaira’s experience will absorb into the mosaic of so many other injustices that continue on a daily basis.

Ms. Valdez did not spend time on this because it is easier to make this a cultural issue or religious issue. It is a convenient and facile attempt to explain a multi-faceted problem.

No human being, whether a follower of Abrahamic traditions, eastern religions, or even atheist, is embodied with the right to inflict harm on another. No man is empowered with this right over woman, and no faith that is accurately interpreted advocates this. This is not a story about Afghan American Culture or Islamic tradition. It is, however, about an injustice. Why must so many women, both in our backyard and overseas live in fear?

It is also about Homaira. She was loved by many, and whose loss will be felt by many. She was beautiful in every way – with a radiant smile that brightened the day of all who encountered it. She was a selfless person, always giving more of her kind nature than she ever received. She was a talented young professional with a full life ahead of her. She was loved by friends and family alike and she always saw the very best in people. The real scandal, Ms. Valdez and the editors of the Washington City Paper, was her murder, and that we as an American community no longer benefit from her gracious presence.
