Sent to a friend I have a black boyfriend and I have been with him for a couple of years now. We have been talking about getting married soon. He is not a thug, but a mature, successful and ambitious guy. He is not Muslim and I am not practicing it either - but I am an Afghan. My family has met him and likes him too, they don't mind me marrying him. The problem is all the other Afghans. They don’t know about it, and let’s face it – they wouldn’t like it. I don’t know how to tell them or if I should tell them at all. What do you think about this? Are there other Afghans with a black girlfriend or boyfriend, or am I the only one? - Let me be clear about one thing, I am not afraid of him abusing me in any shape or form. Like I mentioned before, we have been dating for about 6 years now, and I know him pretty well. I have met his family and friends and they are very supportive of us. I do realize that our children will face more difficulties than other minorities, but my boyfriend is 100 % Am, and our kids will be raised there - and therefore I don't think that it will be that bad.
Are you saying that it would be better if he was a white Am?

It is your life and doesnt matter if a guy is white or black or yellow...if he is a honest, humble, caring, loving partner than you should be with him. A lot of afghan guys are terrible husbands. From beating/ abusing / cursing husbands to cheating ones... plenty of those. Hence be with him. The hell with Afghans and their narrow minded personalities !!! .. u go Girl !!! I won't mind if my husband is chinese as long as i am in love and he is nice to me.
Posted 1 month agoReport - Love has no color, race or religion. Most Afghans will never understand or accept that. The younger, more open minded and educated generation might be able to change that. Afghans who have lived in western countries for a long time, and who have socialized with other "races" might marry non Afghans. We should relalize that Afghans are not superior to other ethnicities. We are all equal and should respect everyone.
Maybe I am asking for too much? After all - we Afghans can't even get along or respect our on ethnic grops, how can I
expect that we will respect non Afghans?
Posted 1 month agoReport - Many Afghan guys date other girls for many years, and when it's time to marry, they bring a virgin from Afg. Everybody knows this, but nobody blames the guys. But God forbid if the girls dated other guys :) I think you should marry him. If he makes you happy, respects you and makes you feel like a real woman - then go for it.

If we accept this statistic, there is a 50 % or more chance that this marriage will fail. If it doesn't, more power to you. Even if it does succeed, there will be many problems in the future. for example, a product of double minority child will be least accepted in society. That child will neither be accepted as an Afghan nor as black American. As a result, there will be many poor sociological ramifications for your progeny, such as social belonging. So, you must consider your decision very carefully, as it will have serious consequences both for you and your children. But then again, we live in American, and we are part of America and intermarriages are inevitable, and there is a good chance they will find their niche, however small it may be.
With regard to some one-sided posters, it is important to point out that Afghan society is not unique in its deficiencies. What happens in Afghan society also happens in other communities. If you think by marrying a non-Afghan you will be spared some of societies ills, you are dead wrong. A certain percentage of men from every culture, nationality, ethnicity, religion will abuse women. That is a fact. According to the Centers for Disease Control, domestic violence is a serious, preventable public health problem affecting more than 32 million Americans, or more than 10% of the U.S. population. Percent of women surveyed (national surveys) who were ever physically assaulted by an intimate partner: Barbados (30%), Canada (29%), Egypt (34%), New Zealand (35%), Switzerland (21%), United States (22%). Based on this statistic, there is uniformity in men abusing women. Unfortunately, based on some surveys, in certain regions of USA, violence agaisnt women by their "loved" one is as high as 50-70%. Moreoever, In the United States, 20 percent of all violent crime experienced by women are cases of intimate partner violence.
According to WHO (World Health Organization), "For ever-partnered women, the range of lifetime prevalence of physical or sexual violence, or both, by an intimate partner was 15% to 71%, with estimates in most sites ranging from 30% to 60%."

You are the garbage that we dumped. You stink! Now move on! There are plenty of black, white, Mexican, and so forth pages the you can visit. You come here and make us filthy by merely associating with us. Let our kids who serf these webpages learn something beneficial, like education. Make us proud by shocking us with your intellectual advances and not animal instincts. Sleeping or dating around is not a sign of progression, on the contrary it's a regression. You are going back to your animal instinct. Progress is in KNOWLEDGE, not on who is the bigger whore.

I did not demean Afghans. This is a confession page, not a "let's learn about Islam and Afghan culture" page! I was born Afghan - but raised in the West. You are one of the narrow minded Afghans that we were discussing. You want to keep Afghans and our culture back in the stone age. Even Arab countries (like UAE) have progressed yet still not lost their religion. You don't want to call us Afghans unless we have the same old values as our grandparents - but lets face it, it's not going to work in this century. You can't hold us back from wanting to explore new things. If an Afghan wants to marry a non Afghan - he or she should be allowed to without you calling them filthy. If anyone is to be called a loser it must be you. You mentality is like a talib. You including all the other "Talib thinkers" are the garbage we are trying to get rid of from Afghanistan. I feel sorry for you. This world is not a place for narrowminded people like you.
